Mapping the Future of the Arts at Cornell University
Slover Linett has long worked with museums and arts presenters based on college and university campuses. But until recently we hadn’t helped a major educational institution look at the big picture: What roles can the arts and creativity play in the life of a great university, not just in campus culture and community service but also in the core missions of teaching, learning, and research? Working with our senior consultant Nick Rabkin, we helped a committee of deans, faculty, and administrators from the sciences, engineering, humanities, and arts at Cornell delve into that question and envision a future of deep arts integration throughout the university. The resulting strategic roadmap offered recommendations for innovations and investments in curricular collaboration, visiting artists, public art, “bottom up” arts facilities, and other areas. That report was approved by the university’s leadership.
Stay tuned for the public posting of that report, and if you’d like to receive a notice when it’s released please email project director Cory Garfin.
